šŸ‡±šŸ‡ŗ Luxembourg leads the way: First Eurozone nation to invest in Bitcoin

PLUS: JP Morgan warns of a Market Crash

šŸ‡±šŸ‡ŗ Luxembourg becomes the first Eurozone nation to invest in Bitcoin by investing in Bitcoin ETFs through its Intergenerational Sovereign Wealth Fund , FSIL investing 1% of its $730 million portfolio.

Finance Minister Gilles Roth, who announced the investment, described it as part of a long-term diversification strategy and approved budget 2025 policy before the presentation of 2026 national budget held at the Chambre des DƩputƩs.

This allocation strikes the right balance while sending a clear message about Bitcoin’s future in finance

said Jonathan Westhead, a Communication Head at Finance Agency, Luxembourg.

The FSIL was established in 2014 with the aim of growing and preserving national wealth for future generations. The fund always targeted high-quality bonds but reviewed the policy earlier this year to enable up to 15% investment in alternatives, including private equity, real estate, and crypto.

The investment was executed using Bitcoin ETFs to maintain the regulator’s compliance and for risk management. Westhead believes that it is evidence of ā€œLuxembourg’s reassertion as the leader in the digital financial worldā€ and it is only the beginning with more investment.

Senate Democrats’ (Democrat and Independent senators) new discussion draft on regulating decentralized finance (DeFi) is facing a bipartisan wave of criticism and alarm in the crypto community. The proposal would move high-risk protocols onto a ā€œrestricted list,ā€ expand KYC/AML to non-custodial wallets, and give the Treasury Department authority to determine when a project is decentralized.
